Navigating Entrepreneurship with the Wise Words of Milton Berle

Greetings and Happy Friday!

This week unfolded as a much-needed reset for the Infinite Energy Advisors team. With relentless rain and wind as our backdrop, we took a collective breath to recalibrate and chart our course for the weeks ahead. As I navigated this reflective "down" time, it led me to wander down memory lane, back to the humble beginnings of Infinite Energy Advisors just over three years ago when January wore a different face.

Many of you are familiar with our origin story – how I created Infinite Energy Advisors out of a deep well of passion centered around caring for my grandfather, cherishing family moments, and championing accessibility to renewable energy for all. Amidst our week of goal-setting and planning for the upcoming weeks, I found myself revisiting a quote that helped sparked the entrepreneurial flame within me.

I'll confess, my knowledge of Milton Berle is confined to the snippets I've gathered from brief research. An American actor and comedian, he earned the nickname "Mr. Television" in the mid 1900s. Now, here's where the story takes a musical turn. I'm a huge fan of old music, particularly from the '50s and '60s. One evening, while contemplating my life's next moves after graduating from Georgia Tech, I turned on an old music playlist on YouTube.

As the playlist rolled on, an unexpected interview clip surfaced. It wasn't a song, but a conversation between two men. In the video, the interviewer probed the secret behind the guest's success and timeless relevance. That's when the guest, quoting Milton Berle, uttered the magic words: "If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door."

His elaboration struck a chord, providing the clarity I needed to carve my own post-graduation path. In order to care for my grandfather, savor family moments, and forge a career, I understood that building my own doors was the way forward. And so, that's precisely what I did.

Fast forward three years, and the doors I've built stand as a testament to the journey. I've not only opened doors for myself but for others as well – even acquiring a substantial door of my own along the way (hello, warehouse!). Yet, I recognize that the door-building journey is far from over. Many more doors await construction, opening, and exploration – the intricate and beautiful path of entrepreneurship.

As I reflect on the quote that emboldened me to venture into the realm of business ownership, my sincere wish is that the readers of this week's blog post find inspiration in those timeless words. Whether your door pertains to education, your career, family, or launching your own business, always remember: if opportunity doesn't knock, build your own door.

Sincerely,

Infinite Energy Advisors
